Description

Isissryn the half-celestial sorceress, pre-curruption.

Sorcerers can be of any race and from any region, they only need a drop of magical blood somewhere in the family to be born with the gene. Sorcerers work magic, like wizards, but unlike wizards they needn't study. It's natural for them, like breathing. All sorcerers are aligned with an element and are stronger in that domain than others.
Sorcerers tend to scorn wizards for having to learn to harness magic, and wizards in turn hate sorcerers, jealous of their abilities. Sorcerers are prone to having attitude problems relating to this.
Sorcerers don't know how to very well control their powers, however. They tend to go haywire; Houses being burnt down, villages flooded, storms summoned and lasting for decades... Chaos.

So, located among the gnomes in Psynec is this little-known (and as yet unnamed) school dedicated to teaching Sorcerers to control their powers and not let their violent mood swings kill hundreds in a matter of minutes. It was founded by the old wizard Fezziwig just before the Destruction, who, rather than despising sorcerers, wanted to help them learn since that's what wizards are all about.
The school, a couple hundred years later, is still around, though run by sorcerers now.

It's a great castle filled with teenagers first, sorcerers second. After rebuilding the dining hall for the third time in a year, the hireling Gnomes demanded that the Masters do something about it. So new school robes were issued, these decorated with runes of temperance, calming and warding; Basically keeping the sorcerers from *accidentally* doing anything destructive.

The metal cuff on her arm surrounded by bandages- That's a mana cuff, a recent-ish invention of the gnomes (of which they are quite proud). The coloured gem on it changes depending on how much arcane energy a Sorcerer has left. Generally, they should be able to tell on their own- You know, when they start getting tired. But they're teenagers first and sorcerers second. They do stupid, impulsive things, and that can result in a lot of dead students.
The cuffs have to screwed on, so for a while having getting them the sorcerers have to take a lot of numbing medicine and wear the bandages. Once they stop growing, they can get rid of the bandages. If they were fullgrown when they got the cuff, they might not ever need them.
When sorcerers are naturally 'full' on mana, the gem is that clear blue in the picture. When they're empty, they turn white. If they've had a normal mana elixir for any reason, it'll turn a darker, slightly purple blue. If they've had a real mana elixir, it turns purple, and depending on how much they've had, it'll start going from purple, to reddish purple, and eventually red- By that time though, the sorcerer has usually died from overdose.

Enter Isi.
She was raised by priests, and though she doesn't know it, is half celestial- She had the best shot a kid could have at being a good person. And she intended to be, too. She made some good friends- Elanyn the moon elf, Cressa the naiad- but she also met Xavier, a human necromancer. He was addicted to the darker mana elixirs, and had been for ages, to the point of where his eyes were bleached of colour, he looked constantly ill, and drinking the potions no longer did it for him- He stuck an IV into his arm whenever he needed the potion, which was a lot. His mana cuff constantly shone a reddish purple.
He got Isi addicted to the elixirs. She became as ill as he was, only much faster. As a necromancer, Xavier had some resistance to ill effects, but Isi, the exact opposite, was particularly susceptible. As the story went on, Xavier's eyes went from white to blue, purple, and eventually red. He should have died as his eyes went white, but he's still alive- if incredibly frail- by the time he hits red.

Normal mana elixirs are half water and made with very weak components. They are used sparingly by sorcerers and wizards alike, in magical emergencies or for healing. They're the clear blue of a normal mana gem. The real ones are made with rare, potent ingredients and are thick, little the no water depending on the recipe in question. The real elixirs are dark, reddish purple.
Xavier makes his own elixirs using a 'real' recipe, and makes Isi's too.
(For luls, Isi is making a normal mana elixir in the picture. They're taught how to make the weak potions for emergencies, but they don't tell them there's a better one.)

Their school robes generally reflect their element in the colours, but Isi is currently Undetermined, so she gets pain grey.

Xavier keeps Isi from dying using his own magics, and she ends up just as bad as he is.
Isi resents being sent to the school because "I already know how to blow stuff up, you cone-headed doorknob!", however she is fascinated by alchemy and everything related to it.

That's the shortened description. >.<

I'm pretty happy with the picture for now. I couldn't remember where I put my sheet of magic runes, so I borrowed the dragon language from Skyrim. >.> If I find the sheet, I'll change it.

And, yes, her name is derived from Isis.

Hahah. You can see how much of an influence ~darchala and her style is on my work in this one.
